Lineage II: Overview
Lineage II is a ‘prequel’ to the first Lineage and was developed by NC Soft. Subtitled The Chaotic Chronicle, Lineage II was given a staggered release beginning with Korea in October 2003, North America in March 2004 and Southeast Asia in October 2004.
Lineage II takes place in a war-torn world where three kingdoms vie for power over the two continents. The nations of Aden, Eldmore and Gracia battle one another for control and, while normal world denizens spend their time praying for peace, players in the Lineage II universe have the power and desire to actually do something about it.
The races of Lineage II follow traditional “high fantasy” lines and are:
- Human
- Elf
- Dark Elf
- Orc
- Dwarf
- Kamael
Lineage II features a player’s ability to use a primary class and, later, a secondary class as well. All races have Fighters and Mystics as the primary classes with secondary specializations along racial lines.
- Human: Knight, Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, and Wizard
- Elf: Elven Knight, Elven Scout, Elven Wizard, and Elven Oracle
- Dark Elf: Palus Knight, Assassin, Dark Wizard, and Shillien Oracle classes
- Orc: Orc Raider, Monk, and Orc Shaman
- Dwarf: Scavengers, who find and retrieve raw materials, and Artisans, who manufacture products out of raw materials
- Kamael: Trooper and Warder, are based on gender, but both derive their talents from that of the Soldier
The original Lineage allowed characters to tame wolves and dogs. With the advent of Lineage II, and its accompanying pet system, players can now tame a wide variety of creatures. There are four types of adult NPC pets: Wolf, Hatchling, Strider, and Wyvern. There are also three types of Baby Pets: Baby Buffalo, Baby Cougar, and Baby Kookaburra.
